Together with RAL we conceptualized the Colour Trend Box 2023. It contains 60 colour samples of different qualities. Carpet samples by Object Carpet, plastic samples by Covestro, powder-coated sheets by Tiger Coatings and RAL colour cards in DIN A6 format. The box is designed to be transported safely and most space-saving. The box solution is a pragmatic solution compared to folding and magnets, etc. The box as a whole is based on the design of the RAL COLOUR FEELING Leporello, which summarises the Trend Report 2023+.

The RAL Trend Box is intended as a working tool for the design process and enables the play with colour and material in the conception of function-oriented colour moods.

The RAL COLOUR FEELING 2026+ Colour Design Toolbox is available now. We are proud to have produced the leading concept of the box and the leporello. This year again we also produced most of the images included in the leporello. See a collection attached.

„The RAL Trendbox encourages creative design and experimentation: combine different colours of the same materials or observe the colour effect in the combination of different materials. The interaction of colour and material as well as their impression under different lighting conditions stimulates a playful, hands-on approach to aesthetic, modern design.

The RAL Trendbox is a holistic approach to design and creates added value for users from a wide range of professions. Whether product design, industrial design or interior – metal, plastic or textile are materials that can be found everywhere.

The importance of colour is evident in all design contexts. Colour achieves different effects in different materials – and the same is true for surfaces. Thus, you will find different surfaces in the RAL Trendbox, from carpet samples with different pile types and textile samples with different structures to the semi-matt RAL Single sheets and plastic colour samples with three different degrees of gloss.

The RAL Trendbox encourages the creation of mood boards, collages, colour concepts and colour harmonies particularly exciting and relevant for use in practice. At the same time, you pick up colour tones that are and will be of particular importance for 2026 and beyond.

Get creative, design sustainably and functionally and experiment with colour and material. Be inspired by the variety of sensual impressions and discover new possibilities for creative exploration.“

STADT LAND FARBE

Internationale Farbkonferenz in Hamburg

Wie kann der Einsatz von Farbe zu nachhaltigen und identitätsstiftenden Lebensräumen beitragen? Dieser Frage widmet sich die Konferenz „Stadt Land Farbe“ des Deutschen Farbenzentrums DFZ am 27. und 28. September 2024 an der Beruflichen Schule Holz.Farbe.Textil in Hamburg.

Farbe beeinflusst die Atmosphäre und Orientierung in urbanen und ländlichen Kontexten. „Der gekonnte Einsatz von Farbe kann Plätze und Quartiere aufwerten und Teilhabe im öffentlichen Raum fördern“, betont Prof. Timo Rieke, Vorstandsvorsitzender des Deutschen Farbenzentrums.

Das Potenzial von Farbe in Architektur und Stadtplanung werde bislang unterschätzt. „In der Aus- und Weiterbildung ist Farbgestaltung leider oft nur ein Randthema. Das wollen wir ändern“, so Prof. Rieke. Die Tagung soll Strategien aufzeigen, wie Farbe nachhaltiger in der Gestaltung von Lebensräumen einbezogen werden kann – zwischen Tradition und Zukunft.

Das Programm umfasst Vorträge und Diskussionen aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln. Unter den Referent*innen sind: Städtebau- und Architekturtheoretiker und Musiker Dr. Christopher Dell, die Stadtbaurätin Münchens Prof. Dr. (Univ. Florenz) Elisabeth Merk, Belinda Rukschcio als CEO Bauhaus Erde, Büro Sauerbruch Hutton, Jasmin Dieterle-Proeselvom Büro MVRDV sowie Marcella Wegner-Di Gabriele und Dr. Stefanie Wettstein vom Haus der Farbe Zürich.

„Farbe ist ein pragmatisches, aber sehr wirkungsvolles Gestaltungmittel“, erklärt Architektin und DFZ-Vorstandsmitglied Julia Hausmann die Bedeutung des Themas. Die Verbindung von Handwerk und architektonischer Planung zu stärken sei dabei ein wichtiges Anliegen. In einer Ausstellung und praktischen Workshops, die in den Werkstätten der Fachschule stattfinden, werden Bausteine für eine ganzheitliche und materialbezogene Farbgestaltung gezeigt und erarbeitet. „Farbe kann ein Schlüssel sein, um gemeinwohlorientierte Orte zu schaffen“, so Hausmann.

Das Deutsche Farbenzentrum und die Fakultät Gestaltung der HAWK am Standort Hildesheim führt die Tagung zusammen mit der Fachschule Farbtechnik durch. Die Fachschule feiert in diesem Jahr ihr 90jähriges Jubiläum. Unterstützt wird die Veranstaltung von RAL Farben sowie weiteren Kooperations- und Medienpartnern.

RAL COLOUR FEELING series originated from the idea of providing as many people as possible with encouraging and easily applicable inspiration. Targeted and responsible choice of colour can have an emotionally and physically relieving and supportive effect. We are sharing our knowledge about constructive colour design and look forward to seeing your applications. The Trendmemo info-graphics show which mega-, macro- and microtrends we have taken into account when making our decisions to select the 15 colours for KNOW + IMPROVE. We use several methods to forecast trends so that we can offer relevant colour suggestions with long-term value.

The colours selected for the trend report are based on observing and assessing social, technological, economic and design trends over the last 60 years. The colour spectrum which has been developed also refers to fundamental design categories and detailed studies on the effect and perception of colour.
